DUSHANBE, January 30, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Appointment of Abdurahim Qahhorov as interior minister should be considered as accession of skilled and competent professional to the ministry of interior, Tajik expert Abdullo Hakim Rahnamo said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
Among immediate tasks the new minister has to solve, the expert named “structural and moral reform of the ministry in order to improve image of law enforcement officers and restore people’s trust in Tajik police.”
Appointment of Qahhorov to this key post may have important and positive effects, according to the expert. “It is the most real step towards providing real participation of all regions of the country in the real rule,” Rahnamo said.
The expert added that if the personnel policy continues in this direction in future as well, that will promote strengthening national unity and deepening feeling of belonging to common state. “In terms of political technology, formation of such a feeling is an important political factor, which is of real political and practical significance, and therefore, I assess president’s decision to appoint Qahhorov as minister of interiors positively,” Rahnamo said.
