DUSHANBE, February 3, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The 64-year-old resident of the village of Toshmunor in Sughd’s Panjakent district, S.V., has been detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking, according to press service of the Drug Control Agency (DCA).
Operation carried out by officers from the Sughd counternarcotics directorate on February 1 found a package of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 542 grams hidden in his house.
The detainee said that he had purchased the drugs for further sale. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against under the provisions of Article 200, Part 3, of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking, and an investigation is under way, the press service said.
