DUSHANBE, February 7, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- President Emomali Rahmon embarks on February 8 on his six-day trip to Europe that will include talks with leaders of Latvia, Latvia, Belgium, Lithuania, Estonia as well as the European Union institutions officials.

According to the MFA information department, Tajik leader will first visit Latvia.

During his stay in Riga, Emomali Rahmon will hold talks with his Latvian counterpart, President Valdis Zatler that will be followed by negotiations between the government delegations of the two countries, which are expected to result in signing of a number of cooperation agreements, the MFA spokesman Davlat Nazriyev said.  Besides, Rahmon and Zatler will also attend a Tajik-Latvian business forum.

During his state visit to Latvia, President Rahmon is also scheduled to hold talks with chairman of the Seim (Parliament) of Latvia.

After Latvia, he will travel to Belgium, Lithuania and Estonia.

During his official visit to Belgium, President Rahmon is scheduled to hold talks with high-ranking Belgium state officials.  In Brussels, he will also meet with senior representatives of the institutions of the European Union to discuss state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union.

After Belgium, Tajik leader will travel to Lithuania on February 11 for an official visit.  In the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, Emomali Rahmon will hold talks with the President of Lithuania, Mr. Valdas Adamkus, Nazriyev said, noting that enlarged negotiations between the government delegations of the two countries will end with signing of a number of cooperation documents.  Tajik president will also hold talks with chairman of the Seim (Parliament) of Lithuania and visit one of enterprises in Kaunas.

On February 13, President Rahmon will travel to Estonia for a working visit.  In Tallinn, he will hold talks with his Estonian counterpart, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and a number of other high-ranking state officials of this country.
