DUSHANBE, February 24, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- President Emomali Rahmon is departing for Moscow today for a short working visit to discuss with high-ranking Russians state officials issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation in different fields.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the head of the Tajik MFA information department, Davlat Nazriyev, said issues related to trade and economic, scientific and cultural, as well as military-technical cooperation between the two countries would be discussed in Moscow.

The purpose of the visit is for Emomali Rahmon to discuss with high-ranking Russians state officials acceleration of implementation of agreements that were reached during Russian president’s official visit to Tajikistan in August 2008, the MFA spokesman said.

In the meantime, the Kremlin press service reports President Dmitry Medvedev and his Tajik counterpart, President Emomali Rahmon, are expected to discuss a broad range of topical issues related to Russian-Tajik relations as  well as prospects of mutually beneficial bilateral and regional cooperation.
