DUSHANBE, April 14, 2009, Asia-Plus -- On Monday April 10, Chairman of the State Committee of National Security (GKNB), Colonel-General Khairiddin Abdurahimov, and the US Ambassador, Ms. Tracey Ann Jacobson, officially opened a newly established Analytical Center for the GKNB, press release issued by the US Embassy in Dushanbe said.
This bilateral project by the Government of Tajikistan and Government of United States, one of a series, will help the Tajik National Security officers to improve data collection and analysis, and improve their professional skills.
The U.S. Embassy''s Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) provided more than $710,000 for renovation and equipment. The center is equipped with four computer labs, a server room with 50 computers for data collection and analysis and training analysts and SCNS Academy cadets. INL also installed a conference room with modern equipment to conduct intelligence analysis conferences and workshops.
The U.S. Embassy has cooperated with Tajikistan law enforcement structures since 1992 in implementing assistance projects totaling more than $28 million to provide border security, support rule of law, and combat drug trafficking efforts. The United States Government is committed to continue its support to the Tajik law enforcement agencies.
