KHOROG, August 31, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A seminar for personnel specialists from local authorities concluded in Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan on August 30.
Ms. Sadbarg Kholiqnazarova, the chairperson of the regional branch of the Public Service Directorate at the President of Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus on Monday that the seminar brought together some 50 executive secretaries of village communities and specialists from local management departments to discuss selection and training of personnel for local authorities.
Organized by the Public Servants Advanced Training Institute at the President of Tajikistan, the seminar was dedicated to study issues related to legal foundation of local government, records management, etc.
According to Ms. Kholiqnazarova, 580 people, primarily young people under the age of 35, currently work with local authorities in Gorno Badakhshan; women constitute some 30 percent of local officials in the region.
