KULOB, October 19, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The Kulob police department has completed investigation into case of Afghan national Bahriddin waladi Mahmadnazar, who faces drug-trafficking charge, and the case will be moving to a court within the next few days.
“Bahriddin waladi Mahmadnazar was detained in the Shuroobod district in late September this year and large amount of heroin and assault rifle Kalashnikov were confiscated from him,” the deputy chief of the Khatlon police directorate in charge of the Kulob zone, Boturkhon Rahmatov said.
According to him, Kulob law enforcement authorities have seized some 440 kilograms of narcotics, including more than 7 kilograms of heroin, some 74 kilograms of raw opium and 87 kilograms of hashish, over the first nine months of this year. 51 criminal proceedings on drug charges have been instituted over the report period.
