QURGHON TEPPA, February 4, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the department for combating drug trafficking (drug police) within the Khatlon police directorate seized more than 10 kilograms of narcotics last Tuesday.
The drug police department chief Zafar Sayfulloyev told Asia-Plus that two residents of the Panj district were detained on February 2 on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. “10.025 kilograms of narcotics were confiscated from them,” said Sayfulloyev, “A totaled included more than 8 kilograms of raw opium and 2.020 kilograms of hashish.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
