DUSHANBE, March 5, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- President Emomali Rahmon yesterday afternoon had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, President Dmitry Medvedev, according to presidential press service.

The two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation as well as the progress of implementation of agreements reached during their last meetings.

Rahmon and Medvedev also exchanged views on the agendas and organizational aspects of the upcoming meetings of heads of state of the CIS, CSTO and SCO as well as ways to strengthen and improve activities of these organizations.

They also considered a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest, presidential press service said.

According to Russian media, the presidents also discussed plans of preparation of multilateral events in the first half-year of 2010, in particular, informal CIS summit that will take place in Moscow on May 8, joint participation in celebrations dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Second Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the CSTO Collective Security session that will be held in St. Petersburg in June and the St. Petersburg economic forum.
