DUSHANBE, April 15, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Outcomes of a two-year work of the INOGATE Programme were presented at the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) on April 14, the MoEI press service reported.
The report was initiated by the MoEI and Barqi Tojik power holding (Tajik electricity supplier) and representatives from 13 ministries and department of the country attended the report-presentation event.
INOGATE is an energy cooperation program between the European (EU) and countries of Caucasus and Central Asia and Tajikistan is participating in implementation of eight INOGATE subprojects, the press service said. Tajikistan is mainly participating in implementation of the projects aimed at energy saving, reducing the number of accidents, use of renewable energy resources and regional cooperation for trade and transit of electric power.
The INOGATE Programme is an international energy cooperation program between the European Union, the littoral states of the Black & Caspian Seas and their neighboring countries, which have agreed to work together toward achieving the following four major objectives: converging energy markets on the basis of the principles of the EU internal energy market taking into account the particularities of the involved countries; enhancing energy security by addressing the issues of energy exports/imports, supply diversification, energy transit and energy demand; supporting sustainable energy development, including the development of energy efficiency, renewable energy and demand side management; and attracting investment towards energy projects of common and regional interest.
