DUSHANBE, April 21, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Shukurjon Zuhurov yesterday met with Kazakh Ambassador to Tajikistan Abutalip Akhmetov.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said the sides discussed issues related to the state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
Tajik speaker, in particular, noted that Tajikistan was interested in expansion of bilateral cooperation with Kazakhstan in construction small hydropower plants and fruit processing enterprises.
The two also discussed participation of Tajikistan at a session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly that will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan from May 14-15 this year, Sultonov said.
To-date, more than 70 bilateral agreements have been signed between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
