DUSHANBE, May 20, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Members and supporters of the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan are collecting donations across the country to support victims of the Kulob flood, Usmon Solehov, the head of the department for propagation and work with media within the PDPT Central Executive Committee, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the PDPT Central Executive Committee has provided 10,000 somoni worth of humanitarian aid to the flood-affected people this week.
“Besides, the PDPT organization in Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province delivered food products, clothing and blankets worth 17,000 somoni to Kulob yesterday,” said Solehov, “Today, the party organization in Hissar will send two trucks with food products and clothing to Kulob. Members of the PDPT organization in Shahrinav are preparing similar aid for the flood-affected people in Kulob.”
He added that the PDPT organization for Sughd was also actively providing assistance to victims of the Kulob flood.
