DUSHANBE, June 30, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- An international conference to discuss issues related to providing CSTO’s Collective Operation Reaction Forces (COFR) with modern and compatible patterns of armament, military and special materiel will take place in Moscow on July 1 on sidelines of the Business Program of the International Forum “Engineering Technologies-2010,” according to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretariat.

The conference is also dedicated to consider and generalize practical recommendations on developing common approaches to unification and compatibility of armament, military and special materiel of CSTO member nations.

Besides, the Business Council of the CSTO Interstate Commission for Military and Economic Cooperation will meet on July 2 to discuss development of integration of enterprises of defense industry of the CSTO member nations and further expansion of economic and military-technical cooperation.

The Business Council meeting participants will include representatives from power-wielding and economic ministries of CSTO member nations as well as heads of the enterprises of the defense industry.

We will recall that the CORF is a Russian initiative intended to transform and expand by three to four times the existing CSTO rapid reaction dimension into a permanently ready, combat-capable force designed for intervention in crisis situations on the territory of CSTO member states.  The idea of creating the new military and security forces was discussed and endorsed at a CSTO summit in Moscow on February 4, 2009, and the official agreement was signed in Moscow on June 14, 2009
