KHUJAND, July 8, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Compared to the first half-year of 2009, labor migrants’ remittances to banks in Sughd province have reportedly risen 23.4 percent.
"In January-June 2010, labor migrants have remitted 261.2 million U.S. dollars to banks in the province, which is 49.5 million U.S. dollars or 23.4 percent more than in the same period last year,” the source at the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Khujand said.
In June alone, they remitted 64.9 million U.S. dollars to local banks, which is 14.4 million U.S. dollars or 28.5 percent more than in June 2009, he added.
