DUSHANBE, August 13, 2010, Asia-Plus - During the meeting of representatives of the executive office of Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan and the Chairman of the Committee on religion affairs at Government of RT Abdurahim Holikov, which has taken place the day before at headquarters of IRPT, a functioning issues of a mosque or Cultural centre under IRPT has been discussed.
The chairman of IRPT Muhiddin Kabiri has underlined that under the party which he is at the head, the mosque has been not functioning, but only a Cultural centre of IRPT has been functioning.
A.Holikov, referring to the law of RТ “About freedom of conscience and the religious organizations” has underlined that members of IRPT have no right to pray in the so-called Cultural centre.
In turn, the representatives of IRPT have noticed that as they are members of political party, which has religious essence, have been acting on canons of Islam, which oblige each devout Moslem to make daily fivefold prayer.
After almost two-hour discussion the parties have come to a conclusion that will continue discussion on the given theme after the end of holy month Ramadan.
According to the new law of RТ “About freedom of conscience and the religious organizations”, which has been accepted by parliament of RT last year, to make a prayer in public and work places, in official offices is not allowed.
