DUSHANBE, October 13, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) has sent an official letter to Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry with solicitation to assist Tajikistan-bound cargo transit via Uzbek territory, the CCI head Said Sharif told reporters in Dushanbe on October 12.
According to him, Tajik entrepreneurs have complained about Uzbekistan’s halting of freight cars. “Because of these delays, our entrepreneurs have incurred serious losses,” noted Sharif, “Besides, cases of loss of goods of our entrepreneurs on Uzbek territory have been reported. Under an agreement signed between CCIs of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, our Uzbek colleagues must assist with solution of problems facing Tajik entrepreneurs.”
He added that Tajik Railways, Tajik Embassy in Tashkent and the Government itself were also involved in seeking solution to the problem of disruptions in rail traffic.
