DUSHANBE, October 14, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- Tajikistan needs investments for development of processing enterprises both in industrial and agrarian sectors, Said Sharif, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Tajikistan, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on October 12.

According to him, it is necessary to provide favorable conditions for development of the wool and leather processing enterprises.  “If we have such enterprises, we will be able to provide domestic market with our own products and create new jobs,” the CCI head noted.

He hailed government’s decision to impose a ban on the export of livestock, wool and scrap metal.  According to him, the ban will allow protecting domestic producers, ensuring production growth and regulating prices in the food market of the country.

Sharif also pointed to the necessity of launching fruit and vegetable enterprises in Tajikistan.  “Because of lack of such enterprises some 50 percent of our farm produce gets spoilt,” said the CCI head.  “It is necessary to attract investments for processing and export of our fruits and vegetables.  The Chamber of Commerce and Industry has many projects and we plan to submit them for consideration to the government in the near future.”
