“The TJU board is taking measures to find solution to the problems that are currently facing Tajik print media,” said Sattorov, “We also discussed problems that had prevented printing houses from printing three independent weeklies.”
Speaking at the meeting, some members of the TJU board noted that journalists themselves were partially guilty of the situation that has emerged. According to them, Tajik journalists have failed to correctly handle freedom of speech. “Nobody bans analysis and criticism, but journalists turned criticism into insult, it is inadmissible,” the TJU board members said
The TJU board notes that Tajik journalism community ought to choose correct position to find constructive solution to the problems that arose.
Mr. Sattorov said the TJU board meeting also decided to convoke the 11th congress of the union in May 2011 that will elect new chairman of TJU.
