DUSHANBE, December 21, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Benefits of free economic zones (FEZs) have been discussed in Dushanbe.
A roundtable entitled “Domestic Business and Free Economic Zones: Interaction Opportunities” took place here on December 20.
Organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), the event reportedly brought together local entrepreneurs and senior representatives of free economic zones functioning in the country to discuss existing problems and proposals to improve the FEZs’ activities.
The meeting participants, in particular, considered a number of issues related to development of FEZ infrastructures, attraction of preferential loans for starting business in a free economic zone, preparation of a list of import substitution goods for realization in domestic market under preferential tax treatment, and differentiated approach to taxation for different FEZs.
More than 30 members of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated in the meeting, the CCI press center said.
