Resident of Khorog who was shot dead during an October 10 mass brawl in the city was an occasional victim of the incident.
As it had been reported earlier, a mass brawl between young men from two neighborhoods of Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), took place last Monday and a 33-year-old Firouz Odinashoyev was shot dead during the brawl.
An official source at the Interior Ministry says Firouz Odinashoyev has become an occasional victim of that incident. According to him, Odinashoyev was killed by a stray bullet while staying in the yard of his house.
Khorog resident Orzou Boynazarov is wanted by police on suspicion of killing Firouz Odinashoyev, the source added.
Meanwhile, GBAO governor Shodikhon Jamshed has convened a meeting in Khorog of senior representatives of local law enforcement authorities to discuss the incident and the criminal situation in the city, according to Niloufar Aslamshoyeva, a spokeswoman for GBAO governor.
It was noted during the meeting that several other people were wounded in the October 10 shooting but they did not apply to hospital for medical aid.
According to Ziyodullo Azizullozoda, the mass brawl took place between young men from Khorog’s Nosir Khusrav and Kasalkhona neighborhoods
Speaking at the meeting, Shodikhon Jamshed noted that illegal possession of firearms, impunity of criminals and lack of educational work among youth lead to bad end and sometimes even to anarchy, Aslamshoyeva said.
Senior representatives of the country’s power-wielding structures have repeatedly raised the issue of a large amount of weapons possessed by residents of the region. Over the five years alone, more than 1,200 firearms have reportedly been collected from residents of Gorno Badakhshan.
