DUSHANBE, January 25, 2011, Asia-Plus -- In 2010, all types of transportation shipped 17,946,700 tons of cargo, which is 3.8 percent more than in 2009, Minister of Transport and Communications Olimjon Boboyev announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on January 25.
According to him, little more than 160 million people were carried by all types of passenger transportation last year, which is 8.4 percent fewer than in 2009.
In 2010, nearly 31,600 vehicles carrying 551,300 tons of cargo and 77,100 passengers arrived in Tajikistan, the minister noted. Over the report period, more than 30,000 vehicles took 146,500 tons of cargo and 80,000 passengers off to other countries. Besides, 16,000 transit vehicles carrying 210,000 tons of cargo ad 268,000 passenger passed through Tajik territory in 2010.
