DUSHABE, February 23, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and open joint-stock company (OJSC) Agroinvestbonk have discussed issues related to lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Tajikistan, according to the Agroinvestbonk press service.
The meeting of the Agroinvestbonk top manager Farrukh Taghoymurodov with Mr. Todd Schneider, head of the IMF team, took place in Dushanbe on February 21.
Further capitalization of Agroinvestbonk, its effective activity under conditions of country’s coming out of economic crisis as well as liquidity situation in Tajikistan’s banking sector and formation of interbank market in the country were also among major topics of the meeting, the source said.
According to him, the sides also touched upon problems of lending to the country’s cotton sector this year, attracting deposits, etc.
Founded in 1992, Agroinvestbonk, with headquarters in Dushanbe, has main branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa and 61 other branches across the country. Agroinvestbonk is the second largest commercial bank in Tajikistan. It is one of the leading providers of finance to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and the agricultural sector in Tajikistan.
