Opportunities for cooperation to support Tajikistan’s private sector were discussed at a meeting of head of the Tajik Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sharif Sayeed with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on May 30 in Dushanbe.
As reported by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s press service, EBRD officials told Mr.Sayeed about the bank’s activity in the republic and presented the new exporters support program.
Mr.Sayeed said that there is a great number of exporters among members of the chamber and experts provide them with related services, including issue of certificates of origin.
“The program could help producers of agricultural products deal with many problems they currently face, including problems with funding and technical support for export of fresh fruits and vegetables and processing,” head of the Tajik Chamber of Commerce has said.
He told EBRD officials that Tajik farmers and small companies need in processing, prepacking and packing equipment as well as beneficial credits.
Mr.Sayeed also said that the chamber highly evaluates EBRD’s activity and is interested in further development of cooperation.
EBRD officials stressed that the newly designed program will be launched in late June this year.
