DUSHANBE, October 16, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Over the first nine months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 6.7 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 1.4 billion U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Compared to January-September 2011 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 110.4 percent.
Over the report period, 581 enterprises (61 percent) have exceeded the January-September 2011 production level. However, there were 97 enterprises, or 10.2 percent of the overall number (952), that were not in operation in January-September 2012.
Processing industry has accounted for 68.1 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the report period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water have accounted for 19.2 percent and mining industry has accounted for 12.7 percent.
Of the 89 basic types of industrial products the output of 53 items (59.6 percent) has increased, and the output of 28 items (31.5 percent) has decreased over the report period. Eight basic types of industrial products (9.0 percent) were not manufactured.
Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced more than 2.4 billion somoni worth of goods in January-August this year, which is 21.9 percent more than in the same period last year.
Cotton-processing enterprises have produced more than 550 million somoni worth of output over the report period, which is 1.7 times more than in January-September 2011.
Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI have produced more than one billion somoni worth of goods over the same nine-month period, which is 10.9 percent more than in January-September 2011.
