DUSHANBE, January 24, 2013, Asia-Plus -- A new modern passenger registration system has reportedly been introduced into operation at Dushanbe International Airport.
In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Rustam Kholiqov, Director of Dushanbe International Airport noted on January 24 that the 1.7 million USD worth of the new passenger registration system has been purchased in the Netherlands.
The system has been introduced into operation this month. Eight check-in counters equipped with computers, printers for printing boarding passes and baggage tags as well as barcode scanners have been installed at the airport. These check-in counters are able to service 600 passengers per hour.
In 2012, Dushanbe International Airport served more than one million passengers, Kholiqov noted.
696,804 passengers were reportedly sent from Dushanbe airport last year, 15.5 percent more than in 2011 (588,767 passengers), and 604,648 passengers arrived in Dushanbe airport in 2012, 11.1 percent more than in 2011 (537,842 passengers).
A total 1,582.606 tons of customer’s cargo needs were reportedly served last year. Dushanbe airport now works with 24 air companies, the airport director said.
