DUSHANBE, March 18, 2013, Asia-Plus -- The first national conference entitled “The Role of Women in Agrarian Reform in Tajikistan will take place in Dushanbe on March 28.
Organized by CAMP Kuhiston under support of Oxfam, the event will take place at the Ismaili Center Dushanbe.
According to CAMP Kuhiston, the conference will address the status and role of women in agriculture, with the aim of collectively advocating for gender equity in the process of agricultural reform.
Representatives of relevant agencies, organizations, dehqon (peasant) farms, cooperatives and associations will share experiences and achievements in the agrarian sector at the national and local levels.
Founded in 2006, CAMP Kuhiston is part of the Central Asian Mountain Partnership (CAMP) Programme financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) since 2000. CAMP Kuhiston''s activities are linked to natural resource management (NRM) and livelihood improvement of the rural population in Tajikistan.
The CAMP network promotes annual forums to raise essential issues for mountain communities and broaden the networking process for sustainable mountain development in Central Asia.
