DUSHANBE, May 17, 2013, Asia-Plus  -- A meeting to discuss the public finance management issues took place in Dushanbe on May 16.

Organized by the Coordination Council for Public Finance Management, the meeting reportedly brought together senior representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Tajik MPs and representatives of donor organizations, including the World Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, etc.

Issues related to the progress of implementation of the Public Finance Management (PFM) Action Plan for 2012-2014 during the first quarter of this year and the New PFM Action Plan for 2014-2018 were a major topic of the meeting.

The New PFM Action Plan for the period of 2012-2014 is an integral part of the PFM Strategy designed for the period of 2009-2018.

The PFM Action Plan on medium-term period of 2012-2014 is a logical continuation of the previous PFM Action Plan for the period of 2009-2011 and next step of PFM Action Plan’s activities implementation, which were not realized in 2009-2011.  The main feature of the New Action Plan on period of 2012-2014 is it’s linkage with Budget Cycle stages.

Established in September 2008, the Coordination Council for Public Finance Management is a consultative body responsible for developing the public finance management strategy, the plan of actions and carrying out public financial management reforms.  Finance Minister Safarali Najmiddinov is chairman of the Coordination Council for Public Finance Management.
