KULOB, July 10, 2013, Asia-Plus -- The Kulob airport is seeking support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for implementation of its development program designed for 2013-2016.
The estimate budget for implementation of the Kulob airport development program is 10 million U.S. dollars, the Kulob airport director Ali Komilov announced at a news conference in Kulob on July 10.
“We hope for support EBRD’s support for implementation of this program,” Komilov said, noting that they already met with Mr. Ulf Hindstrom, Head of the EBRD’s Resident Office in Tajikistan.
“We have sent a letter to the EBRD’s Resident Office on providing a US$ 2 million tranche,” said the director. “The Kulob airport development program includes reconstruction of the passenger terminal, purchase of radio equipment, major repairs to the platform and the perimeter fencing of the airport.”
Three air carriers – Ural Airlines, S7 Airlines and East Air – now operate 15 flights from Kulob to Moscow per week.
