DUSHANBE, May 12, 2015, Asia-Plus – In Tajikistan, inflation for the first four months of this year has stood at 2.2 percent, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

Last month, prices of goods and prices and rates for services rendered to the population rose on average 0.7 percent, which is 0.1 percent lower than in March but 0.6 percent higher than in February and 0.1 percent higher than in January.

The government expects the year-end inflation to stand at 7.5 percent in 2015, an official source at Tajik central bank told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Last year, inflation reportedly stood at 7.4 percent, 0.1 percent lower than it was originally forecasted.

We will recall that the Trading Economics website reports that Tajikistan in 2013 had the lowest inflation rate among Central Asia’s countries.

In Central Asia, the highest average inflation rate last year was recorded in Uzbekistan – 7.0 percent.  In Turkmenistan, inflation last year stood at 6.0 percent, Kazakhstan – 4.5 percent, and Kyrgyzstan – 4.0 percent.  In Tajikistan, the year-end inflation stood at 3.7 percent in 2013.
