DUSHANBE, April 27, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik Minister of Transport Sherali Ganjalzoda has met here with a delegation of France’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation, according to the Ministry of Transport (MoT).
An official source at a MoT says the two sides discussed cooperation between the two countries in the field of civil aviation.
They, in particular, discussed the possibility of launching direct air communication between Dushanbe and Paris, the source said.
We will recall that French company, VINCI, has been the general contractor for construction of international terminal at the Dushanbe airport. The terminal was officially opened on September 3, 2014.
To bring the Dushanbe airport up to international air traffic standards, an extension project has been launched to raise the overall space of the international terminal to 11,000 square meters with a capacity of 5,000 passengers per hour. The project has been implemented under financial support of France which provided Tajikistan a long-term, low interest €20 million loan. Tajikistan''s own contribution is €19 million (October 2012).
The new terminal is able to handle 1.5 million passengers a year. It provides top-quality services to passengers and airlines, in line with international standards.
