DUSHANBE, June 9, 2016, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan is the second on the list of nations most vulnerable to hacking.

Belgium tops the list, Samoa comes third and Australia fourth as new ‘heat map of the internet’ reveals which countries most at risk due to exposed servers.

A new “heat map of the internet” has revealed the countries most vulnerable to hacking attacks, by scanning the entire internet for servers with their front doors wide open.

Produced by information security firm Rapid7, the National Exposure Index finds that the most exposed country in the world is Belgium, followed by Tajikistan, Samoa and Australia.  Russia comes 19th, and Turkmenistan 24th.

The National Exposure Index identifies the top 50 countries, from more exposed to less exposed overall.

The map of the internet was produced by Rapid7’s Project Sonar, a tool which allows the firm to scan every single public-facing IP address in a matter of hours, and look at which services they are offering to the wider internet.

The motivation for launching the mapping project was an attempt to comprehensively determine quite how insecure the net is.
