Tajikistan, along with the most backward countries of Africa, Afghanistan and North Korea, is a country with a low income. Gross national income (GNI) per capita in this group of countries is $1 045 and below, said in a new report of the United Nations industrial development organization (UNIDO), with reference to the classification of countries and economies by groups, developed by the World Bank.
Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Armenia, Moldova and Georgia are located in the group of countries with lower middle-income, where GNI per capita is between $4 125 to 1 046.
Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus together with China and Iran are in the group of countries with income level above average. GNI per capita in this group of countries ranges from $12 475 to $4 126.
Russia, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia are among the countries with high income. In this group of countries GNI per capita is $12 746 and above.
According to the World Bank, gross national income per capita in Tajikistan in 2015 is $1 080.
