The Minister of Finance of Tajikistan, Abdusalom Qurboniyon, has met with a group of representatives of the World Bank, led by the World Bank Country Manager for Tajikistan, Patricia Veevers-Carter, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) Secretariat.
The two sides reportedly discussed priorities of Tajik government’s economic policy. The meeting focused on the issues related to the economic policy measures.
They paid special attention to the implementation of Development Policy Financing Program-1, which includes the targeted social assistance.
In the framework of preparation of this program, the two sides discussed issues of supporting Tajikistan budget for 2016, the source said.
It was noted that all measures taken by the Government of Tajikistan aim at reducing the poverty rate and increasing wellbeing of the population.
Development Policy Financing provides IBRD loan, IDA credit/grant and guarantee budget support to governments or a political subdivision for a program of policy and institutional actions to help achieve sustainable, shared growth and poverty reduction.
