The Ministry of Finance (MoF) proposes to increase expenditures of the country’s budget for 2017 nearly by 1.27 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 160 million U.S. dollars). They, in particular, propose to increase expenditures on public service bodies by 80 million somoni.
The government is currently considering a draft budget of Tajikistan for 2017.
Tajikistan’s draft budget for 2017 is expected to stand at more than 19.863 billion somoni, which is 8.5 percent more than the country’s budget for this year. The national budget for this year amounts to more than 18.306 billion somoni.
The revenue part of the national budget for 2017 is projected to stand at 14.705 billion somoni, which is 766 million somoni more than the revenue part of the budget for this year.
The budget deficit is projected to amount to 0.5 percent () 295 million somoni) of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Indicators of the national budget for 2017 will reflect the economic and social development of the country. Social spending will account for more than 40 percent budget allocations.
The draft budget for 2017 is expected to be submitted for consideration to the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament at the end of this week.
Meanwhile, the country’s budget has received about 12.568 billion somoni over the first nine months of this year, which is 2.6 percent or more than 335 million somoni (equivalent to more than 42 million U.S. dollars) less than it was originally planned.
Over the report period, the national budget was supposed to receive more than 12.903 billion somoni.
Usually, taxes make up about 65 percent of the country’s national budget, non-tax receipts (government revenue not generated from taxes) make up about 10 percent and remaining part includes current income, grants, capital gains, etc.
