Tajikistan-Turkey business forum and b2b meetings took place in Dushanbe yesterday on the occasion of an official visit of Deputy Prime Minister of Republic of Turkey, Mr. Tugrul Turkesh.
Mr. Turkesh heading a number of high level government officials from different Turkish ministries arrived in Dushanbe for intergovernmental meetings.
Organized jointly by DEIK, Turkey Foreign Economic Relations Board, Turkey-Tajikistan Business Council, and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan with the support of Ministry of Economy of Turkey, Ministry of Trade and Economic Development of RT, Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of RT as well as State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management of Tajikistan, the business forum took place at Sheraton Hotel Dushanbe
Representatives of about 50 Turkish companies that came from Turkey with the delegation of Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey as well as some Turkish companies operating in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan attended the forum. Tajikistan was represented by about 400 businesspeople.
In his welcoming speech, Tajik Minister of economic Development and Trade Nematullo Hikmatullozoda noted that the visit of Turkish deputy prime minister and the business forum would promote further expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey and increase in Turkey’s investments in Tajikistan’s economy.
Both countries plan to increase a two-way trade to one billion U.S. dollars in the coming years, Tajik minister noted.
Hikmatullozoda outlined sectors like tourism, minerals, light industry, and agriculture as areas which could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Turkey.
Speaking at the forum, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Tugrul Turkesh, noted that Turkey last year was the main trading partner for Tajikistan’s exports, mainly aluminum, cotton, yarn, dried fruits.
On the same day, b2b meetings took place in Dushanbe on the sidelines of the Tajikistan-Turkey business forum.
