E-visa Tajikistan is among the top five world’s best electronic visa application systems, an official source at the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, E-visa Tajikistan is an electronic travel authorization system for citizens of eligible countries wishing to travel to Egypt for tourism.

Tajikistan is the first in Central Asia to launch the electronic visa application system, the source said.

An electronic visa (E-visa or eVisa) is stored in a computer and is linked to the passport number; no label, sticker or stamp is placed in the passport before travel. The application is done over the internet.

Tajikistan launched the E-visa system on June 1, 2016. The E-visa can be used at any border crossing, and is granted for tourism and business.

Holders of passports of the following 80 countries or territories can obtain a single or multiple entry E-visa online for US$50 prior to arrival for a maximum stay of 45 days within 90 days.

Stateless persons who were citizens of Tajikistan reportedly can also obtain an E-visa.

Along with an E-visa visitors may obtain a permit to visit the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) for US$20.

The electronic visa application system makes Tajikistan more interesting for foreign tourists and for choosing Tajikistan as the country for travel.

Wanderlust, a British travel magazine, covering adventurous, cultural and special interest travel, puts Tajikistan among the top ten countries attractive for travel.

Wanderlust, in particular, notes that Tajikistan is rich in travel experiences, “offering striking scenery and gargantuan peaks (a staggering 93% of the country is mountainous).”
