A delegation of Afghanistan has arrived in Dushanbe to meet with Tajik officials to discuss economic cooperation.
A two-day session of the Tajik-Afghan commission for trade and economic cooperation kicked off in the Tajik capital today. The meeting is taking place at “Tajikistan” Hotel.
Co-chaired by Tajik Minister of Transport Khudoyor Khudoyorzoda and Afghan acting Minister of Finance Mohammad Humayun Qayumi, who is also Chief Advisor to President Ashraf Ghani for Infrastructure and Technology, the meeting will focus on bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in the areas of trade, tourism, health care, science, and education, according to the Ministry of Transport (MoT) of Tajikistan.
An official source a MoT says the sides will also discuss issues related to environmental protection, mitigation of effects of natural disasters as well as the fight against international terrorism and extremism.
The sides are reportedly also expected to exchange views on cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in the frameworks of international and regional organizations.
The session will end with signing of a protocol, the source said.
