Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, and Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi, have discussed issues related to energy cooperation between the two countries, according to the press center of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).

The meeting reportedly took place in Cairo on the sidelines of a three-day meeting of the Tajikistan-Egypt joint commission for trade and economic cooperation that concluded in the Egyptian capital today.

The two sides discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of energy as well as opportunities and resources existing in this sector and attraction of investments, the MoEDT press center said.

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Egypt in January-October this year has valued at only 502,000 U.S. dollars, a 50-percent increase compared to the same period last year.
