Over the first eleven months this year, Tajikistan building materials exports have amounted to 65.3 million U.S. dollars, while import of building materials into the county over the same eleven-month period has amounted to 39.2 million U.S. dollars, according the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).
The trade balance was positive and amounted to 26.1 million U.S. dollars.
An official source at a MoINT says the trade surplus was provided due cement exports. In January-November this year, Tajikistan has supplied 64.9 million U.S. dollars’ worth of cement to the neighboring countries.
Over the report period, Tajikistan has exported 842,000 tons of cement to Uzbekistan, 546,000 tons of cement to Afghanistan and 78,000 tons of cement to Kyrgyzstan.
Over the same eleven-month period, Tajikistan has produced 3.9 million tons of cement. Tajik-Chinese joint ventures Chzhungtsai Mohir Cement, Huaxin Gayur Cement, and Huaxin Gayur Sughd Cement accounted for nearly 85 of the local production in the report period.
In January-November this year, Tajikistan has imported US$16.4 million worth of facing plates, US$8.4 million worth of glass and US$2.5 million worth of drywalls.
