Tajikistan is considering the possibility of joining the Agroexpress project, a service for the delivery of food products using accelerated container trains.

This initiative was included in the 2023-2025 roadmap for transport sector cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia that was approved by the Transport Minister of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim and his Russian counterpart Vitaly Savelyev at a meeting that took place in Moscow on November 21, says the press center of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan (MoT).

The Agroexpress project is being implemented by Russian Railways and the Russian Export Center. The service reportedly delivers cargoes to Turkiye, the CIS countries and China.

Tajikistan's accession to this project could speed up delivery times for perishable products and reduce risk factors affecting the quality of goods, the MoT press center said.

Initiated by Russia in 2019, the Agroexpress project aims to simplify agricultural product exports.  The project is a specialized service for facilitating swift container transportation by rail.
