Tajikistan-Italy investment forum took place in Italy’s capital, Rome, yesterday on the sidelines of Tajik president’s official visit to Italy.

The Tajik president’s official website says more than 100   companies from both sides participated in the forum.  Senior representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of Tajikistan and Italy also attended the event.  

The forum participants reportedly discussed the opportunities of cooperation between business communities of the two countries.

Sectors like industry, energy, agriculture and information technologies were outlines as areas, which could drive the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Italy.  

The Head of the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management Sulton Rahimzoda, the Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir and the Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma presented opportunities of investment in Tajikistan’s economy.  

Senior representatives of WeBuild Group and Carrera Company reportedly provided the forum participants with detailed information about the experience and activities of Italian companies in Tajikistan. 

A number of bilateral meetings in an entrepreneur to entrepreneur format took places on the margins of the forum to discuss issues of trade and investment, according to the Tajik president’s official website.    

The forum reportedly resulted in signing of bilateral contracts worth in total, more than 160 million US dollars.
