Iran’s Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Seyyed Kamal Hadianfar, has explained the advantages of Iran for the transit of goods between China and Europe at the international conference “Road to Tian Shan” held in Tajikistan.
IRNA reports that speaking at international conference “Road to Tian Shan” in Dushanbe, Seyyed Kamal Hadianfar who attended the conference at the official invitation of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, emphasized the importance of China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkiye to Europe, noting the geographical advantages of Iran for transportation within the framework of the North-South and East-West corridors.
He said that more than 14,000 kilometers of railways and 250,000 kilometers of roads, the conclusion of the Chabahar contract with India in order to equip the container and general goods terminals of the Shahid Beheshti Port make Iran important, especially in terms of international transportation corridor.
Hadianfar said that signing MoUs with some countries, including Tajikistan, to benefit them from the logistics capacities of Chabahar port, and starting negotiations with other countries, are on Iran's agenda.
IMNA (Iran Metropolises News Agency) says Iranian deputy minister discussed Iran's role in developing transportation in landlocked regional countries, emphasizing a 59% growth in transit reaching 14.5 million tons last year. Iran is reportedly providing facilities to landlocked countries in the region, particularly Central Asia, to access international waters, fostering increased trade volumes.
Turkish Deputy Minister of transport & Infrastructure, Hon Durmus Unuvar, speaking at the conference, mentioned important transportation routes and highlighted mega project, the Development Road.
The international conference “Road to Tian Shan” that took place in Dushanbe on May 29-20 was reportedly aimed at promoting cooperation in the Tian Shan region, which spans across multiple countries including China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The conference focused on economic development, infrastructure, and cultural exchange.
