The Economic Forum of Central Asia and Germany took place in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, yesterday on the sidelines of the 2nd Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia and Germany, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Speaking at the event, President Emomali Rahmon reportedly expressed confidence that the forum will contribute to the development of cooperation between the countries of the region and Germany, especially through joint actions to use the resources and potential of the Central Asian countries and the financial and technological capabilities of Germany.
Tajik leader emphasized that Tajikistan has rich natural resources, especially sources of "green energy". Effective use of this potential allows us to make a significant contribution to the "green development" of the region.
It was mentioned that today 98 percent of electricity in Tajikistan is generated from renewable sources. The country's Government reportedly plans to provide electricity generation entirely from “green energy” resources by 2032 and to turn Tajikistan into a “green country” by 2037.
Emomali Rahmon reportedly highlighted the contribution of European companies to introducing new technologies to the country's hydropower sector.
The implementation of large projects in the field of hydropower in Tajikistan was called a clear example of the involvement of advanced European technology and experience for the purpose of “green development” of Tajikistan.
Tajik leader also noted the availability of 800 mineral deposits in Tajikistan and favorable opportunities for the production of electric cars, energy-saving and electro-technical equipment.
It was stressed that Tajikistan, prioritizing digitalization and innovative development, has provided incentives and favorable conditions for investment in these areas.
The implementation of projects in the fields of light and food industry, production of construction materials, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, banking, as well as education and healthcare were assessed as other priority directions for our country.
The introduction of a unilateral visa-free regime for citizens of a number of countries, including Germany, for a stay in Tajikistan for a period of up to 30 days was considered one of the other favorable factors of cooperation.
