In April 2025, vegetable prices in Tajikistan rose significantly compared to the same period last year. An analysis of average consumer prices reveals a noticeable increase across almost all categories.
Carrots showed the highest price growth, skyrocketing by 113.6% — from 2.06 to 4.40 somonis per kilogram.
White cabbage followed closely, with its price nearly doubling — from 3.08 to 6.00 somonis (+94.8%).
Cauliflower increased by 82.4%, reaching 12.40 somonis per kg, compared to 6.80 somonis a year ago.
Moderate price hikes were recorded for beets, bell peppers, cucumbers, garlic, potatoes, and onions.
The only vegetable that became cheaper was greenhouse tomatoes: in April 2025, their price dropped by 18.9%, from 21.20 to 17.20 somonis per kg.
Experts attribute the rising prices mainly to seasonal factors and the depletion of last year's harvest stocks. In April, the old supplies run out while the new harvest has yet to reach the markets.
Prices are expected to gradually stabilize and start decreasing over the next month as fresh produce becomes available.

Across the country, prices may vary significantly depending on the region. For example, in some areas, carrots can cost up to 6 somonis, while cucumbers may reach 20 somonis per kilogram.
