One person was killed Sunday evening as a sedan “Mercedes-Benz” ran into the tree, according to information from the Tajik traffic police. The traffic police source has told Asia-Plus that the “Mercedes” driver 54-year-old Ismoil Yoqubov could not control the car because of the ice-covered ground and ran into the tree. He and his passenger Sirojiddin Suvanov received serious wounds and were taken to the central district hospital in Istaravshan. The driver died in the hospital from the wounds received.
Last week, 19 traffic accidents were registered in the republic that killed nine persons and injured 22 others, according to the source.
