At least six people were killed on May 22 as a heavy truck KamAZ crashed into Opel-Astra on the highway from the city of Kulob to the city’s airport, according to the Interior Ministry’s official website. 

The accident reportedly took place in the afternoon.  KamAZ driven by a 21-year-old resident of Kulob Rustamkhon Mahmadullo, who does not have a driver's license, collided with Opel-Astra driven by a 37-year-old resident of Muminobod district Dilshod Ikromov.

As a result of the collision, the Opel-Astra driver and his five passengers (they are all members of his family) died on the spot.  

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
