QURGHON TEPPA, June 6, Asia-Plus - The corruption-prevention department of the Khatlon prosecutor’s office instituted seven criminal proceedings in May this year, the corruption-prevention department head Abdullo Davlatov said.  

He says that of them, two criminal proceedings have been instituted on charges bribery, one on the charge of illegal possession of weapons and four others on the charge of embezzlement of state funds.  

“Thus, chief inspector at the criminal investigation squad of the police station in the settlement of “ Turkmenistan ” in the Vakhsh district, Ahliddin Safaraliyev, faces charges bribery, abuse of office and illegally bearing, possessing, acquiring, and transporting weapons,” said Davlatov, “Safaraliyev demanded US$200 in bribes from local resident Sayburkhon Burhonov.”   When searching Safaraliyev’s office, police found one hand grenade, four bullets of the sub-machine-gun “Kalashnikov” and four bullets of the rifle TOZ-8, according to Davlatov.  “The preliminary investigation has been completed and the case will move to courts within the next few days,” the prosecutor said.   

            The prosecutor also noted that they instituted criminal proceedings against Fathullo Isoyev, an official with the Khudoyberdiyev jamoat, on May 15.  “Isoyev demanded bribes from three residents of the jamoat (300 Somonis from each of them) for exempting them from the last year’s autumn conscription,” Abdullo Davlatov said.  

Since the beginning of the year, the corruption-prevention department of the Khatlon prosecutor’s office has instituted 16 criminal proceedings against 19 persons, according to Davlatov.
