DUSHANBE, October 13, Asia-Plus - Amirkhoja Ghoibnazarov, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Higher Economic Court, told a news conference in Dushanbe yesterday that in January-September 2006, the court has considered more than 280 suits, which five more compared to the same period of last year,
He noted that of them, 97 suits had been considered by the first instance courts and 110 others by the courts of higher instance, 73 by appeals’ court and 17 by the higher economic court’s board.
According to him, all these suits have been lodged against economic entities. He added that there are certain difficulties with consideration of suits involving foreign investors when it is necessary to translate the case materials.
Over the same nine-month period, the Higher Economic Court has transferred some 388,000 somonis (equivalent to some US$115,000) in a form of state duties made from consideration of the suits to the country’s national budget.
Over the mentioned period, the Higher Economic Court has received 167 writs of execution of the court’s rulings for a total amount of more than 4.5 million somonis. Nine persons have been fined a total of 9,200 somonis for ignoring the court’s decisions.
