DUSHANBE, February 7, Asia-Plus -- Former security officer has got a long jail term for a number crimes, including drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.
The Supreme Court sentenced Firdavs Zaripov, former officer of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) to 14 years in prison on February 5. The sentence followed his conviction on charges of drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, attempted murder, abuse of office, etc.
According to the source at the military board of the Supreme Court, the preliminary investigation established that Warrant Officer Zaripov was involved in a number robberies and extortions during 2002-2006. Zaripov is also charged with attempted murder, the source said.
