KHUJAND, March 27, Asia-Plus -- Major Alisher Kamolov, a chief investigator with the Qairoqqum police directorate, has been detained on suspicion of having been involved in bribery.
According to the Sughd anti-corruption directorate, their officers caught Kamolov red-handed when he was taking $500 in bribe from local resident for dropping criminal proceedings instituted him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Kamolov and an investigation is under way.
In 2007, criminal proceedings on corruption charges were instituted against 12 Sughd police officers.
